Before LASIK / Vision Correction: Am I A Candidate for LASIK?

Am I A Candidate for LASIKNot everyone is a candidate for LASIK eye surgery, so it is important to do your research and schedule the necessary consultations. Understand that there are many conditions that could disqualify you from having LASIK, PRK, SMILE, or any refractive corneal eye surgery. These may include, but are not limited to: thin corneas, large pupils, keratoconus, corneal dystrophy, or unrealistic expectations.

In many cases, although LASIK may not be an option for a patient, Roholt Vision Institute offers many other refractive procedures that may be appropriate. Maintaining an open mind and a positive attitude is the best way to approach a consultation to find out if you are a candidate for LASIK.

Many patients have an optometrist that they trust and would prefer to this doctor to assist in their care and consultation. We comanage LASIK with certain qualified referring doctors, who are available in your area. We will use the results of their examination as a starting point and do additional testing (Pentacam™ and iTrace™ Wavefront corneal assessment, examination, pupillometry, and other testing as indicated) to ensure accuracy prior to your procedure. Your postoperative follow-up care can then be done locally after you have been released by Roholt Vision.

Soft contact lenses should be discontinued at least one full weeks prior to the initial consult. Hard or gas permeable lenses should be discontinued four full weeks prior to the initial consultation.
